The Rulebook of wine designations contains the fundamental rules that define DOCG (Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin), DOC (Controlled Designation of Origin) and IGT (Typical Geographical Identification) wines.

Brachetto d’Acqui is associated with the most stringent designation – DOCG (Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin), which it was granted by Ministerial Decree on 24th April 1996.

Dolcetto d’Acqui enjoys DOC status (Controlled Designation of Origin), pursuant to a Presidential Decree dated 1st September 1972.
